VAIL GAY & LESBIAN SKI WEEK

Feb. 6-11, Vail, Colorado: After hosting Aspen’s Gay & Lesbian Ski Week, Community Visions presents another week of a gay-themed winter vacation in Vail. Formerly known as Summit County Gay Ski and Snowboard Week, this is a low-key, relaxed event. You don’t need to register for the Vail Ski Week -- simply show up and join the fun. WINTERPRIDE WHISTLER

Feb. 4-11, Whistler, British Columbia: Whistler’s 2006 event was a fiasco, as the producers of the long-running Altitude Gay Ski Week packed up and left town just two weeks before the event was supposed to kick off. Luckily, GayWhistler stepped in and served as host to more than 4,000 gay skiers.

For 2007, GayWhistler is host once again -- but will have had 12 months to plan instead of just 12 days. Whistler returns to true ski week fundamentals: skiing, boarding and building new friendships in fun accepting environments. (gaywhistler.com)

WINTER EXPLOSION

Feb. 16-19, New York’s Hudson Valley Resort and Spa, New York: Winter Explosion is the largest, longest-running African-American gay and lesbian winter event on the East Coast. With a theme “The Best is Yet To Come,” they are celebrating 12 years. Close to 1,000 gays and lesbians gather over President’s Day weekend. (winterexplosion.com)

TELLURIDE GAY SKI WEEK

Feb. 24-March 4, Telluride, Colorado: Telluride Gay Ski Week is a week-long event designed to introduce gay men and women to this beautiful region and its many activities, both on and off the mountain. This event is just a little bit different than other gay ski weeks. The experiences you will have here are flavored by the ambience of the charming yet upscale Telluride, and the hip more urbane and European-style town of Mountain Village. OUTBOARD

March 28-April 1, Steamboat Springs, Colorado: OutBoard, exclusively for snowboard enthusiasts, is moving back to Steamboat Springs. Started in 1997, OutBoard is the oldest and largest snowboarding event for the gay and lesbian community.

“As in the past, we’ll be staying at the Steamboat Grand Resort in the heart of the Steamboat Springs resort town just steps from the gondola, restaurants, and shopping,” organizer Ryan Miller writes on the web site. “We are working on some new events for the 2007 event, including new meal locations, evening activities and more.”

Don’t know how to snowboard? Don’t worry -- the Virgin Day can take care of your snow cherry. (outboard.org)
